September 24, 2013 Campus Fashion, Student Styles, Style, Trend and Beauty Five Easy DIY Beauty Remedies Beauty treatments, while fun, can get expensive. Save money by following these easy recipes that are not only cheap but good for your skin. 1) Dark Circle Reducer Ingredients: Licorice extract, Vitamin K capsules, and Aloe gel. Step 1: Take your Vitamin K capsule and squeeze out three little drops into the contact lens case. Step 2: Take your licorice extract and drop in two drops and mix. Step 3: Take your aloe gel and squeeze out a little glob. Step 4: Mix it up. *It should be a creamy nude color* Step 5: Apply under eyes. *The consistency shouldn’t be too oily or sticky, it should go on smooth and disappear* Apply at night before you go to sleep. Also, when you are applying the gel make sure you use your ring finger because it is the most delicate finger. 2) Homemade Pore Strips Ingredients: Unflavored Jell-O and milk. (Doesn’t matter what kind) Step 1: Pour one tablespoon of milk into a glass Step 2: Add one tablespoon of the unflavored Jell-O into a glass Step 3: Stir it together. *It should have a chunky consistency* Step 4: Pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds. *It should look gooey and like a liquid* Step 5: Wait a few seconds for it to cool. Step 6: Apply anywhere needed. Step 7: Wait 10 minutes for it to dry. Step 8: Pull off mask. Make sure when finished to use some kind of cosmetic serum because your pores are clear and can absorb active ingredients better. 3) Honey and Cinnamon Anti-Acne Mask Ingredients: Three tablespoons of honey, one table spoon of cinnamon and a mixing bowl. Step 1: Add three tablespoons of honey, then add your one spoon of cinnamon into the mixing bowl. Step 2: Mix it up really well. Step 3: Microwave for 30 seconds. *It should look like melted chocolate* Step 4: Put substance on your face. Step 5: Wait 10 minutes. Step 6: Rinse off. Honey has antibiotic properties, which stops bacteria growth. Cinnamon is also known to kill bacteria and has essential anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce acne. 4) Cellulite Coffee Scrub Ingredients: Coffee grains and olive oil. After making yourself a cup of coffee, instead of throwing out all the grains, place them into a bowl. Step 1: Take coffee grains and place them into a bowl. Step 2: Add a few tablespoons of olive oil to the coffee grains. Step 3: Mix away. *Should have a liquid consistency* Step 4: Scrub for 10 minutes. *Notice how tight the skin feels. This is because the caffeine from the coffee is stimulating the blood by dilating the blood vessels, thus tightening and toning the tissue around the applied area. Step 5: Rinse off. The coffee grounds will not only help reduce the appearance of cellulite, but it will also naturally exfoliate your skin and on top of that, the olive oil will help your skin feel as soft as ever. 5) Makeup Remover Ingredients: Cotton pads, Aloe Vera water and extra virgin olive oil. Step 1: Pour less than a half of a cup of olive oil into a bottle of Aloe Vera water. Step 2: Shake. *Use quickly before the two elements separate* Step 3: Soak the pad with the mixture. Step 4: Press pad on makeup. This works wonders for those are very sensitive to chemicals and this remover will also remove any waterproof makeup. Photo | Christiana Kurtz, Staff Photographer
