September 19, 2012 Drinks, Featured, Restaurants Q&A: Midori Sushi and Martini Lounge Midori Sushi and Martini Lounge adds a taste of sophistication to downtown Mount Pleasant. Located at 105 E. Broadway St., Midori features signature cocktails and martinis as well as a beer and wine selection. Lunch and dinner items are available, and the soups and salads are just as popular as the freshly made sushi. The following interview is with General Manager Leah Hetherington. Q: How long have you been open? A: We have been open since October of 2011 Q: What are your hours? A: We open Monday through Saturday at 11:30am. Our kitchen closes at 10pm Monday through Thursday and 11pm Friday and Saturday. Our bar stays open one hour after the kitchen closes. Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month we host an event called Midori After Dark and are open until 2am. Q: What is your most popular menu item? A: Our most popular menu item is the Fire Up roll named in honor of the CMU Chippewas. Q: Why is your restaurant a good place for students? A: We are a great place for special occasions and dates. We offer an atmosphere, service and product unavailable elsewhere in the mid Michigan area. Great for students looking for a unique experience. Q: Do you have any student discounts? A: No Q: Any reoccurring specials? A: No Q: What dish would you recommend? A: My personal favorite is the Grilled Salmon main plate. It features Tasmanian King Salmon, sautéed snow peas and fennel, steamed rice and a blueberry-soy reduction. Q: Are you hiring? If so, do you hire CMU students? A: We are always accepting applications! We employ many CMU students. Photos by Andrea Henk
