April 1, 2015 Student Styles, Style Five Reasons You Need to Own a Leather Jacket Thanks to Irving Schott, who designed the first motorcycle jacket in 1928, men and women around the world have been able to appreciate this trendy clothing item. A leather jacket is a statement piece that can be worn either casually or to dress up any party outfit. Good quality leather jackets can be expensive, but everyone should own at least one – and here’s why: 1. People might think twice before messing with you. It’s a known fact that putting on a leather jacket mades any outfit instantly edgy (thus, making you edgy). Plus, it gives you a huge confidence boost. 2. It keeps you warm while party hopping. If you are not going out because it’s too cold out and nothing goes with your outfit, the leather jacket is always the perfect fix. A black, brown, gray or any dark colored jacket will match most outfits. Put on a hot party outfit, throw on your leather jacket and you will look – and feel (literally) – hot. 3. It accentuates the important things. Good leather jackets for younger women should end right before the butt. Leather jackets naturally tend to be tighter in the waistline area, which creates an arrow for the eyes downward. Let’s just say that wearing a dark leather jacket and dark wash jeans will make you look good in all the right places. 4. They never go out of style. Leather jackets have been around for so long and they have yet to go out of style. The best part is that they can be worn by both men and women. All you need is the right accessories and this style piece can be your go-to. 5. It’s perfect for traveling. Instead of having to pack a huge, puffy jacket or coat, pack your stylish and convenient leather jacket. No matter where you’re going, this jacket can fit the occasion without being too cumbersome.
