November 3, 2011 Arts & Entertainment, Events, Music Local Event: Ragbirds 11/3, Joe Hertler and Jet Pack On! 11/4 The Ragbirds - playing at Rubble's Bar tonight at 10 p.m. The next two nights in Mount Pleasant will feature two of Mid-Michigan’s favorite acts. Rubble’s Bar, the epicenter of Mount Pleasant live music, will host both of these highly anticipated performances. Tonight’s showcase is Michigan’s favorite neo-folk group, The Ragbirds. Ann Arbor natives Erin Zindle and The Ragbirds have graced Mount Pleasant with their “infectious global groove” on many occasions—including headlining the Max & Emily’s Summer Concert Series this past June. The 5-piece band has become synonymous with contemporary sounds and culturally diverse instrumentation. The Ragbirds demonstrated their musical prowess at this year’s Electric Forest music festival where thousands of attendees witnessed a unique Michigan sound to contrast the monotonous flow of bass-heavy acts. The Ragbirds will be accompanied by The Crane Wives (Grand Rapids), another staple of Michigan indie-folk. Music starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are $10 for 18+. Joe Herler and the Rainbow Seekers will include a copy of On Being with each ticket sold for tomorrow's show Tomorrow night’s performance will be a celebration of hometown artists. Promoting the release of their new album On Being, Joe Hertler and the Rainbow Seekers will be headlining alongside hometown favorites Jet Pack On!, Detroit natives Prussia, and American Opera from Saginaw. The show begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $10 for 18+. (Tickets include a copy of Joe Hertler’s On Being. Also, saying that you’re a JPO! fan may or may not get you half-price at the door…) These are two opportunities to see some great live acts here in Mount Pleasant. Don’t miss out on a great way to end your busy week!
