Happy Thanksgiving!

From the Grand Central Magazine Team!

As we celebrate this special day of gratitude, we wanted to share our thoughts on Thanksgiving and what it means to us.

Samantha Bitterman, Editor-in-Chief

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday! I love being able to get together with my family and friends to share a laugh together and of course a huge feast! From the smell of turkey in the kitchen to our tradition of a post-dinner nap before diving into leftovers, it’s a day filled with warmth, gratitude, and treasured memories.

I don’t get hyped up for Thanksgiving, which is very surprising because many people love it. Every year, it’s just my sister, her boyfriend, my mom, my niece, and I who eat ham or duck. I’m actually allergic to Turkey, so we haven’t had one in years. It’s still good to catch up and be able to spend time all together, since we don’t get that much. We usually just eat, play games, and talk.

I spend the day with some of my family and family friends eating way too much and having days of leftovers. I love watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in the morning followed by going Black Friday shopping later that night and the next morning. I like the reminder that comes with the holiday of taking the time to reflect on what I’m thankful to have in life.

I love thanksgiving! Every year, my family from Kentucky comes up to visit. We always go to restaurants that are unique to my hometown to give my relatives something new to try. On thanksgiving day, we tend to eat the same foods, my favorite is deviled eggs. The day after Thanksgiving is my favorite. We watch the Ohio State vs. Michigan game, which gets really competitive and fun. To top it off, we always make stromboli for game day.
