3 Ways to Stay Warm on Campus

The weather outside is frightful but class isn’t canceled, what’s a girl to do? Bundling up is an obvious answer, but as most of us know there is a fine line between staying warm and looking like a marshmallow.  Style shouldn’t go out the window just because the temperature is dropping, but you don’t want to freeze either!

Leggings are a staple in any college girl’s wardrobe but many do not offer enough warmth to survive a long cold Michigan weather. Don’t fear, leggings lovers, we have two words that will change your life: Sweater Leggings.

Senior Tessa Freda clarifies, saying “Sweater leggings are like sweaters for your legs. They look just like basic black leggings but are ten times warmer.”

Paired with cute boots and your favorite coat, sweater leggings are an essential part of a cozy going to class outfit. Look for them just about anywhere — Kohl’s, Target, Forever 21, etc. — for under $20.

We all know warm boots are a winter must-have, but what about your socks? Those cute little ankle socks aren’t cutting it in this winter wonderland, unless, of course, you like having icicles for feet. It’s time to break out those warm wool, almost knee high socks that look so cute coming out of your boots. It’s always a better day when your feet are warm.

Legend goes that you lose most of your heat through your head. Luckily, we’ve got hair to keep us warm. On the downside, that hair has some bad days in the winter and often times needs a little help. Knit headbands are a great way to keep your head warm as well as help conceal that bad hair day.

“I love knit headbands because they come in so many different colors and styles, and they actually do help keep me warm,” freshman Kara Perry said.

Consider making them yourself- yarn is cheap, they’re easy to make and it means you get to choose your own colors and patterns.

The winter is long and cold but with these tips you can finally find the balance between style and warmth.
