January 25, 2011 Style Fashion Icon: Blake Lively Want to pull off your favorite celeb's look but don't know how? It's easier than you think to achieve hollywood's best style. INTERACTIVE: Hover your mouse over an item for more information on the item and a link for purchase. Style inspiration can come from anywhere. I often find great fashion ideas from celebrities, designers, street style and friends. One of my favorite actresses, who has fantastic style, is the beautiful Blake Lively. Her versatility ranges from extremely chic ensembles to a laid back look of jeans and a T-shirt. Lively’s effortless look can easily be channeled by fashion conscious college girls. To achieve Blake Lively’s causal yet polished look, try a fitted leather bomber jacket and dark jeans tucked into a classic pair of riding boots. Combine a simple T-shirt with a great tote will do the trick for a busy day of classes. For a night out, take a risk with bright hues in a simple silhouette. Lively loves to play with color, texture and pattern. I love the idea of color blocking a plum top and teal fitted skirt. Toss in neutral heels and one bold accessory (your favorite stack of bangles or a statement necklace) to attain a sexy and sophisticated style. Lively likes to keep her hair and makeup slightly undone so go with your hair’s natural texture and keep your makeup simple, enhancing your own natural beauty. To recreate Lively’s style in Mount Pleasant, visit Target, 4097 East Blue Grass Road, or JCPenney, 2231 S Mission Road, for basic pieces like loose fitted tees and dark wash skinny jeans. For evening T.J. Maxx, 4216 East Blue Grass Road, has many hidden treasures that can’t be found anywhere else in town. Often you can find designer clothing and accessories for a fraction of the price (I scored a Locaste wristlet for $15 dollars!). Mixing high and low end pieces together creates an eclectic look and is perfect for college students on a budget. Online websites to explore for Blake Lively’s look: ASOS: Real or faux leather bombers. http://us.asos.com Nordstrom: Amazing selection of riding boots and luxury tote bags. http://shop.nordstrom.com/ Windsor Store: Affordable dresses for every occasion. http://www.windsorstore.com/ Check out Elise’s full blog at http://www.urbanspank.blogspot.com
