The effects of exam week haven’t stopped us from indulging in some of out favorite reading materials – Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle – because nothing can satisfy our over -studied souls quite like being up-to-date on the latest and upcoming fashion trends.

We’ve compiled a list of the most prominent trends on the runway for winter 2016-17.

We can’t promise to help you ace finals, but we can guarantee you’ll ace your style game with these emerging trends.

Luscious Velvet
Velvet is making a comeback this winter in the alluring shade of midnight blue, which really stands out.

Elegant gowns and 1970s-inspired velvet suits were spotted on the runway at Prada, Ralph Lauren and Vanessa Seward. We recommend this backless, velvet dress from Forever 21 for a night out.

Leopard Print for a Dramatic Pop
Unleash your wild side in a furry leopard print coat, spotted on the runway at Prada, Moschino and Dior. This boyfriend style, leopard print coat from Topshop is the perfect update to your winter wardrobe.

Sleek Shearling
Stay cozy this winter with a timeless, sheepskin (or vegan!) coat. Shearling capes, longline coats and biker jackets were spotted on the runway at Maison Margiela, Marc Jacobs and Burberry. We love this retro inspired, faux shearling coat, from ASOS.

Warm up your winter wardrobe with bold shades of red, spotted on the runway at Saint Laurent, Comme des Garçons and Junya Watanabe. Make a major statement in this daring red, asymmetrical top from Zara.
