October 23, 2011 Campus Fashion, Style, Style Halloween How-To: Music icon Amy Winehouse Need a last minute costume idea? Music icon Amy Winehouse is a comfortable, cheap and easy costume to put together last minute. Photo from people.com It’s fun, cheap and easy to become R&B/soul/jazz singer Amy Winehouse for Halloween. Winehouse passed away in July–what better way to honor her musical talent than to dress up as her? What you’ll need: Big thick hoop earring–gold is best! Beehive-inspired hair. Have a friend backcomb the top half part of your hair into a “beehive.” Bobby pin or clip these pieces to the back middle of your head. Leave the bottom half of your hair down and use a curling iron to make loose waves. If you have bangs, leave them down and brush them to the right or left side of your face. The messier your hair looks, the better. Thick black eyeliner: Pencil a lot of dark black eyeliner on your upper and lower eyelids–draw a thick line and connect them at the corners of your eyes. Faux tattoo your body. Amy Winehouse had multiple unique tattoos. Drawing fake tattoos onto your arms, chest and stomach–but make sure to Google the types of tats she had. You’ll find more than enough examples! Mock her typical outfits. Wear a black bra and a ribbed white tank top. Accessorize the top with at least two or three different necklaces. For the bottom wear a black mini or a dark pair of skinny jeans and your favorite pair of pumps–nothing says Amy Winehouse more than this casual rock star look.
