Some students would rather travel home to have their hair colored or cut than risk getting their hair done by someone new. However, with all of the salons and stylists in the Mount Pleasant area, your chances of finding a place that fits your styling needs are excellent.

Headliner’s, located at 214 E. Broadway St, is one of those “off the beaten path” salons that most students have never heard of.

Headliner’s has been around for 30 years and is a private company that has its only location here in Mount Pleasant.

As a beauty salon, Headliner’s services include haircuts, permanent color, waxing, manicures and pedicures, as well as make-up applications.

Pricing for these services are quite reasonable with haircuts beginning at $25 and highlights starting at $40.

This elegant salon also carries many well-known retail products such as OPI nail polish, Paul Mitchell hair products, Redken and Sebastian Professional.

Jessica Roberts, an employee of Headliner’s for five years, said most of their clients are referrals or are brought in through event nights through sororities, such as Sigma Kappa. These event nights hosted by the salon allow student organizations to have a group of people test products and services that the salon has to offer.

Communication major and Sigma Kappa member Lyndsey Koch has only been to the salon once, but said that it was a good experience and the staff was personable.

“I have heard good things about it from friends,” said Koch

Headliner’s is a spacious salon that aims to add a bit of “class” to the quaint atmosphere of downtown Mount Pleasant. When you walk through the door you are greeted with a smile and prompted to sit in a cozy, French decor waiting area.

Headliner’s employees said they work to provide great hospitality, social attitude and high fashion atmosphere to make it feel like the kind of place where you could be pampered and keep coming back.

Allison Hammond has been a stylist at Headliners for 7 years and described the salon as “very welcoming.”

“We try to meet needs,” Hammond said. “The customer comes first”.
