October 28, 2016 Style, Style & Beauty, Women's Style Student Style Spotlight: Urban Chic With Chloe White Story by Hannah Kaske Photos by Anne Langan Central Michigan University’s campus serves as a runway for the everyday fashion lover. Forget magazines and paparazzi shots – the real style icons can be spotted walking to class. We caught up with Chloe White, a CMU sophomore, who describes her personal style as urban chic. White is majoring in entrepreneurship and double minoring in merchandising and event management. She can be seen switching up her style from laid back to fierce, depending on how she’s feeling. Fearlessly Fashionable White says her style reflects her spontaneous personality – you’ll never catch her sporting just one certain style. “You never know what you’ll get with me. You know that I’m fierce, but you never know what style you’ll get. I like to switch it up,” White said. Not only does White exude confidence, but she is fearless with her style. She knows that creating a fabulous look is just leather pants, a white shirt and a vest away. White likes to keep her makeup minimal, by just using mascara and eyeliner daily. But don’t let that fool you, she does love contouring and a bold lip from time to time. A Fresh Start Ever since White was a young girl, she’s been interested in fashion. She grew up with a seamstress mother, so she’s been around that area her entire life. Although she had a love for fashion in high school, financial reasons held her back from experimenting with her style. Luckily, White came to Central Michigan University with a full ride scholarship, so she had some extra cash to spend on the clothes she has always wanted, but never could own. With this opportunity, White’s wardrobe did a total flip. For some people, being “on trend” calls for new and expensive threads, but White knows how to navigate the sale rack. White can be found at Forever 21 or H&M looking for staple pieces for her bold looks. Confidently Chic White picks out her outfits the night before, so her style has been crafted to the T. This fashionista gravitates towards vests to layer up. Yet, her favorite go-to piece is a bomber jacket. White’s friends always ask her why she is so dressy and she will simply tell them, “if you look good, you feel good.” White believes you never know who you will encounter, so you must be prepared dressed in your best. White knows her sassy style will stop anyone in their tracks. “If you’re gonna do it, be fierce with it, and show everyone you’re your [own] brand. I think my style and the clothes that I wear does project to people that I’m about my business, I’m fierce, and I’m always on top of stuff.” Next time you run into White, you’ll be sure to see her in a look that matches her mood.
