Trends and Styles For This Fall Season

Not sure how to stay stylish this fall season? No worries, Amanda King dishes on the latest fall trends.

Once again fall has arrived; right on time and not a day too late. This means it’s out with your favorite denim shorts and in with your comfiest sweaters.

Stumped about what fall 2010 has in store for your closet? No worries. It’s simple and it’s all right here.

With the recent popularity of super-skinny jeans and leggings, it was only a matter of time before they came together to reproduce this year’s hottest item for women: jeggings. Jeggings = jean material + leggings. Your best bet when buying jeggings is to go with a darker wash that will go with everything.

This is especially true for blazers. Blazers are a super hot, versatile piece for this fall. They can dress up nearly any outfit, instantly making you look chic and polished.

Oversized sweaters are a definite must-have. This fashion item is comfortable and cute, the best of both worlds.

Ann Costopulos, a creative writing junior, agrees that “ugly, baggy sweaters” are in this fall.

“I love them, I need more,” Costopulos said.

A good pair of boots is always important for Michigan weather. Ugg boots are out this season.

“They’re boring, they don’t stand out,” Costopulos said.

Instead, look for a unique pair of vintage inspired boots to jazz up your outfits.

Male trends seem to move a little bit slower, but there are a few key pieces every guy should look into for this season. Camel-colored pieces are a big hit this year when paired with tweed blazers and combat boots.

Scarves are a must-have for both men and women for the cooler months.

“It’s really important, especially in Michigan to be prepared for the colder months with the right accessories,” apparel merchandising junior, Ben Touchette said. “A high quality cashmere scarf may seem like a high price at first, but the benefits will last longer than a discounted one.”

So head out on the town in your jeggings and combat boots. Celebrate the fall season the best way you know how by heading out to the cider mill, picking apples in your oversized sweaters and eating doughnuts in your chic blazers.

Just don’t forget your scarves.
