February 10, 2016 Campus Life, Community, Students Valentine’s Day in Mount Pleasant: Top Date Destinations Valentine’s day can turn into an expensive event. For college students, spending $50 on one day can seem ridiculous when on such a tight budget. With this quick guide, you and your significant other, gal pals or whoever you want, can enjoy a nice day without breaking the bank. Red Lobster The go-to restaurant that is just fancy enough for college kids has high-quality food for a low price, which is practically a steal. Not into seafood? Don’t worry, you can get vegetarian meals and chicken. Not to mention, the cheddar biscuits are to die for (and they’re unlimited). Check out the menu to see the prices and deals. Killer Hibachi If you’re looking for something more upscale, head over to Killer Hibachi. This Japanese steakhouse offers an interesting menu with all types of meats and vegetarian options. The meals are relatively cheap and you’ll be able to get a large portion meal for a killer price. Explore the menu to find what best fits your taste. Midori As a sophisticated restaurant in town, customers can enjoy a taste appetizer and a variety of sushi while staying within a decent budget. Not into sushi? Not a problem. Midori offers other plates to ensure everyone’s happiness. If you’re feeling adventures and want to dress up, see if their menu entices you. Celebration! Cinema If you’re not interested in going out to eat, or even want to do dinner and a movie, check out the movie theatre for a relaxing night. Wear your sweats and comfy clothes to the newest rom-com (or action movie) and binge on popcorn and candy. Make sure to check the movie showtimes and get your tickets in advance. Soaring Eagle Casino Looking for a fun night full of risk? Head on over to the Soaring Eagle Casino. Here, you can control how much money you’re spending and stay as long as you want without being a nuisance. Try your luck at the penny slots, blackjack tables or poker. If you get hungry while gambling, go to one of the restaurants the casino holds. Bowling Not only is bowling fun – it’s cheap. Living in Mount Pleasant we have multiple bowling alley options. If you don’t want to venture outside of campus, University Recreation at the Student Activity Center offers bowling at a great price. If you want to venture out a little bit, but remain close to campus, check out Chippewa Lanes located on Mission Street. Or, head on over to Riverwood Resort, where you can bowl, eat and just enjoy the atmosphere.
