February 28, 2016 Drinks, Drinks, Food & Beverage, Recipes #SundaySwirl: The Queen G (Green) Smoothie For the longest time, whenever people talked about a green smoothie, I always pictured hand-picked grass thrown into a blender with some added ice cubes. So basically, I said “ew.” Well, this smoothie recipe is much, much better than my hand-picked grass concoction, I promise. It’s as if someone decided to one-up my idea by adding three cups of sunshine and two tablespoons of rainbow (not really, but for quality purposes, indulge me). The intensity of the pineapple taste will balance out all of that healthy green stuff (and, no I’m not talking about grass!) making it more than tolerable, and actually enjoyable to drink. Check it out and see if it changes you into a Green Queen (or King) too! Note: This recipe allows you to prepare the smoothie ingredients ahead of time to freeze, and then toss into the blender when you’re ready to embark on your next royal adventure. Ingredients 1 avocado, peeled, pitted and quartered 4 cups of peeled and chopped pineapple 4 cups of baby spinach 1/2 cup of coconut milk 1/4 cup of fresh lime juice 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro (leaves and thin stems) 1 teaspoon of ground ginger 4 Stevia sweetener packets (optional) Recipe Start by dividing all ingredients evenly, among four large Ziploc freezer bags. Seal bags and freeze until ready to serve (lasts up to one month). When ready, empty one bag into a blender and add 1 cup of water. Begin blending on low-speed to break up chunks, then gradually increase the speed. Blend on high-speed for 30 seconds or until smooth. As always, enjoy! Did you enjoy this recipe?
