April 25, 2024 Events, Featured, Features CMU Protest Story and photos by Breanna Prince Students, faculty, and staff walked across the Central Michigan University campus to support Black Lives Matter on Saturday, April 20 in response to videos that spread around social media of white students using a racial slur, as well as a now former CMU staff member, used a racial slur during a meeting on this situation. While everyone was walking, they had chants from, “Hey hey, ho ho, racism has got to go” or “No justice, no peace.” The protest lasted from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Starting at the University Center, some students marched while holding signs, while others joined the walk.
