March 22, 2011 Style Elise’s everyday essentials: My makeup bag Elise spotlights her favorite, everyday products that every girl should find essential. Find these products and more online and at local stores in Mount Pleasant. Combine my curiosity with passion for all things beauty; I’m constantly scouring the market for the latest and greatest beauty products. With all this research, I like to consider myself fairly knowledgeable on what products perform and which ones plummet. While digging through drugstores and visiting makeup counters is always delightful, my most treasured makeup recommendations come from another source. Getting the scoop from uber chic girls and hearing about the products they covet has influenced me the most. These endorsements have led me to several successful makeup purchases. Take a sneak peek into my makeup bag (I adore Vera Bradley’s large cosmetic in “Verry Berry Paisley”) and discover some of the “cult-favorite” makeup products that I reach for on a daily basis. Elise’s Everyday Essentials: Laura Mercier Silk Crème Foundation: Nothing is more tragic then heavy, caked-on makeup. It’s important not to hide behind your foundation, but rather use it to enhance your natural beauty and even out skin tone. Long-lasting with a medium to full coverage, Laura Mercier Silk Créme Foundation is fit for all skin types leaving a flawless finish. Make Up for Ever Duo Mat Powder: Applying powder on top of foundation helps set your makeup ensuring it will last for hours. Make Up for Ever Duo Mat Powder does just that and is perfect for adding just an extra touch of coverage. Unlike numerous setting powders, this product leaves a lightweight natural finish. NARS Laguna Bronzer: Many shy away from the idea of bronzer with the fear of appearing dirty or muddy. Having fair skin myself I avoided bronzer too, thinking it wasn’t cut out for lighter skin tones. Recently, I have grown to love NARS Laguna Bronzer. This product gives the perfect “I just got kissed by the sun” effect and works beautifully on a wide range of skin tones. Smashbox Soft Lights in Shimmer: This highlighting powder is ideal for adding a soft shimmer to the skin, perfect for adding light and dimension to the face. Benefit Bella Bamba Blush: All you need is one swipe of Benefit’s Bella Bamba Blush to receive a natural flushed finish. The vivid pink pigmentation and slight shimmer make this a standout product that creates a youthful glow ideal for everyday use. L’oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara: Not once has it clumped my lashes together or left any trail of flaking under my eyes. My roommate, a fellow makeup junkie, ditched her old mascara for this clean effect. This lengthens my lashes beautifully for a natural everyday look! Stay tuned for “Sneak Peek in my Makeup Bag Part II” – I’ll be exploring my no-fail concealer, long-lasting lipstick, favorite eye shadow palette and my go-to makeup brushes!
