September 11, 2012 Arts & Entertainment, Featured, Music Get Familiar!: Tim Vocals Hip-hop and R&B artist, Tim Vocals brings hard-hitting talent out of Harlem. A new school year begins with a Get Familiar! feature from the Harlem, up-and-coming hip-hop/R&B sensation, Tim Vocals. With so many great rappers coming from New York City, it can be difficult for an artist to stand out, which is exactly what Vocals accomplishes. In a classic case of not judging a book by its cover, Tim Vocals isn’t the kind of hard-spitting rapper audiences are accustomed to coming out of Harlem. That’s not to say he doesn’t have hard lyrics, but he presents them with an angelic voice. Tim has such a unique sound that you’ve probably never anything quite like this. With the combination of a smooth voice and some of the grimiest lyrics around, it’s hard to ignore him. Vocals lays down goon inspired, gritty remixes to your favorite hip-hop and R&B songs of the recent past including Drake’s hits “Marvin’s Room” and “Headlines”; Kirko Bangz’s “Drank In My Cup” and Ca$h Out’s “Cashin Out.” The Harlem singer features his voice most on tracks like “Next,” “Bags Of That Sour,” and “NYC.” A more rap feel can be found on tracks such as “K In The Trunk,” “Headlines,” and “Passin Out.” Vocals’ recent mix-tape, Live From Harlem, features the previously mentioned tracks as well as remixes of Rihanna’s “Unfaithful” and Chris Brown’s “Gimme That.” It’s a project that is put together well and has tracks that can be listened to until you find yourself singing along. Live From Harlem is available for free download online and Vocals has his first official video for the lead single, “K In The Trunk” with over 50,000 views on YouTube already. There’s no excuse to not let the Harlem sensation serenade you, and with a voice like his, you’re going to be hearing much more of the name ‘Tim Vocals’ in the future. Stop sleeping, get familiar!
