Posh, Practical: Dressing Cute, Comfortable for Class

Story and photos by Olivia Kotowski

Having class on campus five days a week is every fashionista’s dream. An opportunity to sport a new, trendy outfit each day. Though high-waisted skinny jeans are cute, they may not be the most practical for sitting through a three-hour lecture.

Here’s a step-by-step look book for how to dress cute for long days of class, but to also dress comfortably. When you feel good, you look good, too.

Central Michigan University junior Delaney Walden opts for a pair of maroon velvet joggers from TJ Maxx for class. Fashionable yet comfortable— perfect to wear to those long lectures. She pairs this with a black cotton American Eagle turtleneck that she describes as stretchy and breathable. Staying cozy, over this she throws on an oversized teddy jacket from Zaful. For her trek to class, she sports classic Adidas sneakers.

For a more chic look, sophomore Olivia Sheffer prefers jeggings. They give off the look of crisp jeans, but with the comfortable fabric and ability to stretch, they’re great for all-day wear. Sheffer gets hers from LOFT. On top, she wears an oversized black knit sweater from Express, and over that she wears an ultra-soft gray puffy cardigan from Urban Outfitters. For shoes, Sheffer wears a pair of maroon velvet Steve Madden slip ons. Sheffer has a girly-girl style, so she chose to top off her outfit with curled locks and a touch of berry-colored gloss.

Junior Lindsay Kleinjans is more of an earthy-styled girl. Her go-to for a cute, comfy look is her warm flannel that she snagged at her local Goodwill. With this, she wears it with versatile black leggings and Timberland boots. Kleinjans throws on top an oversized vintage denim jacket, picked up from the store Ragstock.

It’s hard to pick out a great outfit for a long day on campus, but it’s definitely not impossible. There are comfy alternatives for everything, no matter what your personal style is!
