February 10, 2016 Campus Fashion, Style, Trend and Beauty Try a Classic Look for Valentine’s Day With the most romantic holiday right around the corner, getting dressed up and looking stunning is a goal. Instead of getting caught up in the latest styles of frills and colors, we think sticking to a classic look is the best route. Follow these tips for looking your best, come this weekend. Hair Soft, pretty curls are sultry and cute at the same time. Minimal work is required and it’s guaranteed to look good at the end of the night. Grab a wand or a regular curling iron and wrap a strand around the tool, holding for just a few seconds. Don’t do your whole head – just pick a few thick strands from each section of hair. Run your fingers through the curls to loosen them up and spritz with a holding spray. Makeup Dramatic eyes and strong lips never go out of style! To perfect this look, our Makeup Monday tutorial gives you step by step instructions. For bold, red lips try Maybelline’s On Fire Red. Dress The Little Black Dress is always flattering and sexy. For a different approach to the classic necessity, try velvet, lace or mesh. LBD’s can be found anywhere, so check the Salvation Army first for a thrifty steal. Throw on a black moto jacket if you’re headed out into the cold (for any longer than five minutes). Shoes If there is any time to wear heels, it’s on Valentine’s Day. Of course red heels are ideal to give a pop of color to the black and celebrate the holiday spirit, but any color will do a black dress justice. H&M’s platform ankle boots are perfect for staying stylish in the cold weather. Photos by Anne Langan
