CMU Students’ Hairstyles We Envy

Story and Photos by Chanda Crenshaw

Some of us can attest to the fact that we have been rocking the same hairstyle for ages.

Even though we may have wanted to try something more daring, when it comes changing up our hairstyle, we like to stick to the basics.

Fortunately, we caught up with a few students who are brave enough to follow through with their true hair desires and sport some bold and beautiful hairstyles.

Justin Sansom, a senior at Central Michigan University, wears his hair natural in a curly afro. What really stands out when it comes to Sansom hair is the light bounce and shine his curls give off.

“The key to maintaining my hair is leave in conditioner and oil,” Sansom said.

Sansom uses a term called the loc method.

By using products such as leave in conditioner and oil, it allows the hair to moisturize and lock in his natural curls.

Madisyn Milarch, a sophomore at CMU, embraces her thick and curly hair by using products that hydrates hair ends.screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-6-21-02-pm-2

Brands such as Garnier and Frizz Ease is what gives Milarch’s curls a gorgeous finish.

Kelly Grunduski, a sophomore, achieves this wavy texture with a little help from her curling wand.

“It’s super easy – I take a section of my hair and wrap it around the wand for about three to four seconds and I’m all done,” Grunduski said.

Overall this look is effortless, and only takes 15 minutes for Grunduski to complete.

Sierra Logan, a junior, decided to style hair her in braids and dye them the courageous color of purple.screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-6-35-31-pm

“Why not purple? I was tired of being boring and I wanted something new,” Logan said.

Summer Cotsman has had this vibrant red since the seventh grade, so you can say that she’s quite in love with the color.screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-6-21-17-pm

“I picked out this color many years ago and I’ve stuck with it.”
