August 31, 2016 Men's Style, Style, Style, Style & Beauty, Women's Style The Ultimate Mount Pleasant Shopping Guide Story by Devon Rademacher Photo Courtesy of GC Photo Staff Welcome back, Chippewas! Getting ready for a new semester can be tough, and adjusting to life at Central Michigan University can be a little hectic. Luckily, if you need some retail therapy or are desperately in need of new shoes, we’ve found the best local places for you to get what you need. New Clothes So you need some new clothes – who doesn’t? The best places for cheap and trendy digs are Rue21 and TJ Maxx. These stores carry both women and men’s clothes, and are always getting new merchandise in. Set aside time to peruse the stores since there are a lot of items. Workout Gear MC Sports and Dick’s has you covered for workout gear, new sneakers and athletic equipment. The stores contain similar selections, carrying Nike, Adidas, Underarmour and more. Monogrammed Everything Duo Studio Designs is a store Greek members swear by for logos and monograms. They also have t-shirts and sweatshirts in store to pick up without having to order. Odds and Ends Items If you’re out and about just looking for something eye-catching, check out Trillium Fine Clothing downtown for jewelry, women’s clothing and Vera Bradley galore. Trillium is also an Estée Lauder retailer. It may take some time to dig through, but rest assured, some gems will be found. Jewelry If you want something for yourself or someone special, try Ace Of Diamonds on Mission Street. The store has frequent sales and receives new pieces. It’s a good place to get jewelry resized or appraised as well. Basketree downtown also has a good selection of handmade jewelry and scarves. The store is perfect for finding gifts, and maybe something for yourself. Home Decor Dorm, apartment or house – you need to go into the St Germain Antiques shop. Chairs, tables, pictures and old decorations can fit any type of style. CMU Threads The bookstore is great, but it isn’t always in our budgets. C&O Sportswear has an abundance of CMU apparel and items for a good price. Shirts, sweatshirts, leggings, scarves and more, C&O is amazing at keeping up with the latest trends for men and women. This list is based on the writer’s opinion and experience.
