November 20, 2019 Opinion, Style & Beauty, Uncategorized Interview Wear: Style Tips to Help Land the Job Story by Caitlin Eddy The one thing most students hope for during college, just as much as a job, is an interview. Interviews can be very exciting but also very intimidating. So, to take some of the pressure off, knowing what to wear is one less thing to worry about. 1) Keep it simple Dress in threes because it makes the outfit look more thought out. An example would be a nice pair of dress pants that are not wrinkled, and are hemmed accordingly, a nice top and a jacket, cardigan, sweater or blazer. TIP: The third piece does not have to match the pants. Most neutral or common colors (black, white, gray, brown) go with everything, including each other. 2) Shoes Be sure to be able to walk in your chosen pair. Flats or kitten (short) heels are generally preferable. In an interview, the goal is to impress, but also look approachable. For men, a classic dress shoe is always acceptable. 3) Add personality Make the outfit your own whether it’s a pop of color in the top or the shoes, or a minimal piece of jewelry. While showing personality is important, distraction is not the goal. Buying a few staple pieces that go together is a great way to rock any interview at anytime. If you’re in need of a quick but stylish interview outfit, check out First Impressions in the Bovee University Center. First Impressions provides CMU students free professional attire and helps students make a great first impression for their interview.
