October 14, 2016 Arts & Entertainment, Arts & Entertainment, Music, Music, Pop Culture Spotify Selections: CMU Athletes’ Pump-Up Songs Story by Marley Denise Ever wonder what Central Michigan University athletes listen to before a big game? Now you can listen to their favorite tunes to get in the zone before your squad takes on that rival intramural team you barely beat last year. We caught up with the players to compile a list of their favorite tunes. Laying Down the Tracks “My taste is a little different because of the position I play, so I have to be more calm and not amped up,” said senior quarterback Cooper Rush, explaining why his picks for the playlist are some classic country songs. Lacrosse player Eric Colville’s top picks for game day warm up are along the lines of A$AP Rocky and Kendrick Lamar. “The atmosphere is a bunch of dudes being guys trying to play lacrosse one last time,” Colville said about his music choice. Live it up, Eric. As for the dance team, Hannah Burgess said she vibes to EDM and the chart topper “Closer” by The Chainsmokers. Corey Redman chooses some throwbacks to get him pumped for a basketball game. “I like to listen to most of these because they are older and remind me of when I was younger, and I didn’t have any worries. It helps me relax and pushes away the pressure of the game and takes me to my happy place,” Redman said. Even if you don’t play sports, these tracks will have you pumped up in no time.
