The winter season is here which means it is now the perfect time to grab a favorite book, curl up next to a fire and sip on something warm. Lucky for Mount Pleasant locals, there is a brand new bookstore in town full of new popular reads and old classics. Sleepy Dog Books has something for everyone this November.

Sleepy Dog Books has many books of different genres for readers to purchase.

Finding your ideal read can be difficult, but students around Central Michigan’s campus have.

Looking for the best book to accompany you this winter? Central Michigan students and alumni have sent in their favorite book recommendations for you to dive into and escape from the cold.

Alumni Audriana Chenoweth (she/her/hers) recommends “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig, a story about what it means to make life right in the “library.”

Senior Julia Burkholder (she/they) recommends the classic book turned movie “Gone Girl” and “Sharp” Objects by Gillian Flynn.

CMU medical school students Taylor Fegan and Nicole Ireland are avid readers. Some of their favorites include anything by Wally Lamb and “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo,” a book that went viral in the summer of 2022.

Whether it be a romantic tale or harrowing adventure story, reading is a great way to escape from the stresses of everyday life and school. Stop by Sleepy Dog Books to pick up a new read and dive into a new world today.
