Here’s Your Next Road Trip Destination

We’re hoping spring is still right around the corner, but in the chance that it does start to heat up soon, road trips around the Mount Pleasant area are a springtime must.

So, we’ve compiled a list, divided by direction, of road trip destinations within one hour of our campus.

The only thing left to do is pack the car and bring your friends along for the ride!

Traveling North

Eagle Glen Golf Course

For the common golfer seeking a professional challenge, Eagle Glen is a course you have to try. While the yardage is manageable, it is the sand that will make you pay. Given four stars by Golf Digest, this scenic treat is something that any local golf enthusiast should play sooner rather than later.

Wilson State Park

This gem of a park offers a wide variety of activities from fishing, sunbathing and just being outdoors. Sitting up in the woods of Harrison on Budd Lake, is Wilson State Park your next go-to destination for the upcoming warm weather.

Traveling East

Sanford Centennial Museum

Founded in 1970, the Sanford Centennial Museum celebrates not only the history of its own town, but the history of mid-Michigan as a whole. With historical artifacts from the earlier days of our surrounding area, there are nine buildings total for visitors to pursue.

City of Midland

As one of the largest cities north of East Lansing, Midland really has all there is to offer for a day or weekend trip with your friends. From attending a Loons baseball game, to shopping the Midland Mall or playing tennis in what was recently considered America’s No. 1 tennis town, add Midland to your destination list.

Traveling South

Middle of the Mitten

Ever wonder where the exact geographical location of the middle mitten is? Well, it’s in St. Louis – and you can’t miss it because it’s marked off with a large sign saying so. For those of you into the selfies, grab your camera and hit the road. #SelfieSpot

Uncle John’s Cider Mill

Located on highway 127 right across from the Emerald golf course, this place is as family-friendly as it gets, and as a fair warning, you might will absolutely fill up on way too many cider and doughnuts. That’s, OK though.

P.S. They also have wine.

Traveling West

Beer City (aka Grand Rapids)

For those of you 21 and up, if you haven’t made your way to the beloved GR you need to, and soon. With countless breweries and a beautiful downtown scene, this is the perfect get away with your crew.

Heavenly Vineyards

Looking for wine? Head west to Morley. While they’re currently only open on the weekends, we hear the grapes (of sorts) are worth the wait.
