(Arielle Hines | GCmag) Did someone say catwalk? The Organization for Black Unity is hosting their annual fashion show. Thirty lively models are getting ready for their spotlight on Feb. 9 to strut their stuff on the runway. For a $10 admission fee, audience members will get to see different trends modeled by the group’s thirty members when the fashion show kicks off at 7 p.m. in Plachta Auditorium. The Organization for Black Unity is a social organization that focuses on getting people more involved, and more acquainted with Central Michigan University’s campus. Some members feel the group becomes a family in the end. “Everybody works well with each other, we have a large e-board for more ideas and we’re very diverse,” Illinois junior and director/vendor Crystal Hustin said. Energy filled the practice room as the models and designers got ready. From the T walk to the snapshot poses, all thirty models had something to show during their rehearsal. “I thought it would be interesting to try out,” New Jersey junior and model Perry Watson said about the fashion show. “It brings fun to the campus.” All of the styles in the fashion show come from local businesses in Mount Pleasant, Saginaw, Lansing and Detroit. The Organization for Black Unity is known for their volunteering and encouraging freshmen to get involved on campus.
