January 11, 2016 Drinks, Drinks, Recipes The Monday Mix: Classic Martini It may only be the first week back to school, but we all know syllabus week calls for a drink or two. After going over the tentative semester schedule, a strong drink may be just what you need to start the semester off right. And, the signature martini can be the exact sip you crave, especially with its high-alcohol content. Ingredients: 2-ounces of gin or vodka (your choice) 1/2 ounce of dry vermouth Ice cubes Green olives Lemon twist Recipe: Begin by chilling a martini cocktail glass in the freezer. Then, pour the gin or vodka and vermouth into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with the ice cubes and shake until cold (no longer than 30 seconds). Strain the mixed drink into the now chilled martini cocktail glass (do not include the ice cubes). Lastly, garnish the drink with a couple of olives and the lemon twist. Enjoy!
