VIDEO: CMU Homecoming 5k Walk/Run

About 425 registered runners bundled up early Saturday to benefit the Special Olympics of Michigan, raising over $19,000 that will go towards the athletes and their events. This year’s 5k exceeded the expectations of Special Olympics and raised the most money out of all 5k runs held at CMU.

Like any other Special Olympic event, nothing can be done without volunteers. There were many different reasonings over 100 people came out to volunteer for the 5k.

Before the race kicked off at 8 a.m., volunteers and runners were asked one simple question: ” Why did you participate or volunteer for this 5k event?”
