November 19, 2013 Drinks Whip up peanut butter energy bites in four easy steps Looking for a snack that is easy to make and equally delicious? Try peanut butter energy bites! Recently, my nana sent me a package of peanut butter balls and they were gone in no time. My nana enjoys making this healthy dessert because it is made of natural ingredients, giving people a boost of energy throughout the day. After making this recipe for a health food event, the attendees couldn’t stop raving about the dessert. Here’s the recipe so you can create your own bites of tasty goodness. With this recipe, it is possible to make about 35 to 40 bites. Ingredients: 2 cups of oatmeal 1 cup of natural peanut butter 1 cup of ground flaxseed 1/2 of local honey 2 t vanilla Dark chocolate chips Directions: 1. Combine all of the ingredients together in a large bowl. 2. Stir the ingredients until well-mixed. 3. Roll them into teaspoon – sized balls. 4. Put them on wax paper and refrigerate. Health Benefits: Oats are loaded with complex carbs that will help you stay full longer. They also contain a lot of fiber, which is great for digestion. Natural peanut butter is a good source of healthy fat and protein to keep you energized throughout the day. Local honey is a natural sugar that is also one of the oldest home remedies for people with asthma. Flaxseed contains heart healthy omega-3 fats, and some studies dictate it could reduce your risk of certain types of cancer. Dark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants. This is great news for your cells, as well as your taste buds!
