Craft Beer of the Week: Mr. Blue Sky

It seems spring is just around the corner, but as we all know – you can’t be too sure with Michigan weather.

The weekend weather was bright and blue-skied, just the kind of stuff that makes you yearn for a time when you didn’t have to wear two pairs of gloves just to step outside.

Personally, my winter blues eased after pouring a pint glass of Mr. Blue Sky from Griffin Claw Brewing Company in Birmingham, Michigan.

This light, American wheat lager instantly brings spring to mind, with a crisp hop aftertaste balanced with grapefruit and coriander. It has a beautiful golden color and is pretty session-able, though its taste is ultimately nothing too memorable.

The can itself was pretty interesting and depicts the Spirit of Detroit in front of the city skyline, with a quote by Elmore Leonard.

There are cities that get by on their good looks. Detroit has to work for a living.”

Mr. Blue Sky clocks in at 4 percent alcohol content, which is pretty low for an American lager. Regardless of its somewhat mediocre taste, this lager may just give you the taste of spring you you’ve been craving.

Hey there! You should be able to find it but if not, Griffin Claw is pretty well-known for their Norm’s Raggedy Ass IPA. Give that a try and let me know what you think! Good to hear from you.
