September 29, 2015 Campus Fashion, Style Chippewas Welcome Maroon and Gold PINK Apparel The wait is over. Students can now purchase Central Michigan University apparel from Victoria Secret’s PINK stores. Released this past July, the collection features tops, tanks and sweatshirts – apparel that allows students to show off their maroon and gold pride through a beloved brand. Seniors Sarah Kimble and Abbey Newbury are the PINK Reps for CMU and act as liaisons between CMU and the PINK brand. PINK recognized CMU’s eligibility for their own clothing line when PINK saw many CMU students in attendance at their events. Now that the line is available online and in stores, the reps say they see women all over campus donning the trendy apparel. “PINK is just an everyday campus look. It’s about comfort and style. You can wear [the tops] with jeans, leggings or shorts,” Kimble said. The clothes are practical, yet easy to make dress up or sport casually for class. Aside from sporting the CMU apparel around campus, another popular place to rep the clothing is at football games. “I’ll see so many people wearing the clothes at the game, then a picture with at least three girls wearing a shirt or sweatshirt,” Newbury said. As for PINK’s public relations on CMU’s campus, there are 10 street team members who are also involved with the PINK brand. Finding the clothes is simple. The Midland Mall is the “go-to” for all of the clothing as it is closest distributor to campus. Malls in Okemos, Saginaw and Lansing also carry items from the line. For more information on the PINK brand at CMU, be sure to check out their Facebook and Twitter pages. Events will take place throughout the semester.
