CMU was the first stop in the Made in Michigan College Tour. The next stop in the tour is Western Michigan University on Feb. 10th.

Azuare Singleton-Monton, NPHC’s president, was the project manager and stage manager for The Made In Michigan College Tour. She served as the liaison between the university and TRUU Colors Entertainment.

“There was a lot of pieces that had to fall in place to get the concert to work,” said Singleton-Monton.

She described CMU as one of the hardest colleges to work with because of the task lists the university provided. The event organizers had to update about ticket sales and show that they had safety precautions in place.

“We had to constantly show them that we were professional and had a full thought-out plan.”

Singleton-Monton said the hard work was worth it to see people having fun. She also hopes that the Made in Michigan College Tour provides a sense of inclusion.

“When you see someone who looks like you on such a big scale at a university, it shows that you have a place on campus.”

Singleton-Monton mentioned to keep an eye out for future events put on by Greek organizations.

“We’re continuing to try to get back where we were before the pandemic in a safe and fun way and try to make campus an enjoyable experience for everyone.”
