April 1, 2016 Drinks, Food, Food & Beverage, Recipes Make it Grand: Grilled Mac & Cheese Sandwich Anything with cheese is a favorite food for many. And, anything that’s easy to make and has cheese is a favorite meal for college students. So, the best thing to do is combine two college faves – macaroni and cheese and a grilled cheese sandwich. A grilled mac and cheese sandwich not only combines two easy and common college student meals, but it also makes for a creative mid-day treat. Ingredients: 2 slices of bread 1 slice of American cheese 1/2 cup pasta shells Velveeta cheese to taste (for mac and cheese shells) 2 tablespoons of butter Recipe: Begin by making the mac and cheese – boil shells until cooked, about 10 minutes. Strain the shells and mix the Velveeta cheese in. Place the prepared mac and cheese aside in a separate bowl. On a frying pan, spread 1 tablespoon of butter. Set the first slice of bread on the pan. Next, add the slice of cheese onto the bread slice. Then, put the prepared mac and cheese on top. Spread 1 tablespoon of butter onto the second slice of bread, and place over the mac and cheese. Now that the sandwich is closed, let cook completely on both sides, flipping the sandwich over a couple times. Once the center is melted and the sides are brown, the sandwich is complete. Cut in half, and enjoy! If you haven’t made a sandwich like this, our guess is that you’ve at least thought about it. So, now it’s time to stop the thinking and get to cooking! Video by Adriana Cotero
