Spice Up the Tradition: Seasoned Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Halloween is right around the corner and one thing that college students can’t deny their love for is carving pumpkins.

Not only does carving a pumpkin bring out our inner-kid and create festive porch decor, but you also get to make a fresh, homemade holiday treat: roasted pumpkin seeds.

But now you can add more than just salt to those seeds.

Garlic Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups of pumpkin seeds
  • ¼ cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder

Ranch Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 packet Hidden Valley powdered ranch dressing mix

Cinnamon-Sugar Pumpkin Seeds

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups of pumpkin seeds
  •  2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  •  ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  •  ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions to roast your favorite seed flavor:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Rinse the pumpkin seeds, then put them into a large bowl.
  3. Add in the oil and seasonings until the seeds are coated evenly.
  4. Pour the seasoned seeds onto a greased baking sheet.
  5. Roast the seeds for 30 minutes or until golden and crunchy. Enjoy!
