November 24, 2015 Drinks, Food & Beverage The Ultimate Guide to hosting Friendsgiving Friendsgiving is the ultimate excuse for a dinner party and an additional warm plate of food, while giving college students a reason to practice real-life adulthood. For this get together, we’re able to show off our cooking skills, light our favorite fall-scented candles for all to smell and sip on drinks together. Why throw a Friensgiving? Because Thanksgiving is a time meant to be spent with loved ones. And, during the school year the majority of our time is with friends who have grown near and dear to our heart. So, why limit your Thanksgiving feast to just family, when you could be tacking on an extra pre- or post-dinner with others whom you are also grateful for? It simply doesn’t make sense to not host a Friendsgiving, especially when food and drinks with your close friends are involved. If we’ve made our case on why you should throw this festive event, here are some tips to creating an easy, warm and tasty environment for you and your friends to kick-off the holiday season together. Pick a large space Although there might be one person who is more comfortable with hosting an event, the best get-togethers are usually in an open area. Review your options with friends, and choose a place where everyone can gather comfortably. Create a Facebook event for organization Facebook is a great way to keep everyone in the loop. Creating an event through social media will help keep the dinner party organized. Everyone bring one dish or beverage With all of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, planning an event can be stressful and time consuming. To make it easier on yourself, suggest that everyone bring their own dish to share with the group. This gives great variety and unique tastes to the meal. Lend a helping hand If you want to throw a party like an adult, it is necessary to clean up like one too. If you are one of the friends attending Friendsgiving, lend a hand with dishes or offer to take everyone’s plates. Plus, it’s an easy way to show appreciation. Give thanks The most important part of throwing Friendsgiving, is to let your buddies know why you are thankful for them! Go around the room and have everyone give their thanks. Not only will everyone leave with a belly full of warm food, but they, too, will have a warm and filled heart.
