October 19, 2015 Arts & Entertainment, Arts & Entertainment Must-Have College Student Apps It’s Monday morning and you are completely stressed out about your busy week – well, you’re in luck because there’s an app for that. Whether you need help getting around campus, homework tips or just something fun to ease the stress of your week an app is only one touch away, literally. Take a look at the most useful apps to help get you through the school year. EasyBib You finally finished that 10-page paper that has been eating away all your free time, but then you remember you still have to make a list of citations. With the EasyBib app you can have your list done in minutes. All you have to do is enter the URL or title of the source it came from and EasyBib does the rest for you. Copy the list into your bibliography and you’re done. It’s fast, simple and a big time saver for college students. Download: Apple, Android. Pocket Points Sometimes we feel like we should be rewarded for making it to class and with the Pocket Points app you can test your self-control. The goal is to see just how long you can stay off of your phone. When you arrive to class, open the application, lock your phone and start racking up points. The points you earn can be used to get sweet discounts at local and online businesses. And on Tuesdays, you get double the points. So before you use your phone in class, think about that free pizza from Papa John’s that could be yours. Are you up for the challenge? Download: Apple, Android. Companion Campus safety has always been an important issue and now with Companion, you never have to be alone. Five students at the University of Michigan created this app, which allows you to choose anyone to virtually walk you home. All you have to do is type in the address you’re trying to get to and notify as many friends as you’d like that you’re headed to that destination. Your friends are then able to keep track of your route and will be alerted if you leave your path. This app is a must-have if you are traveling alone, at night or just want an extra sense of security. Download: Apple, Android. StudyRoom We’ve all had those moments where we needed a little extra help with a class. StudyRoom gives you that option by giving students the opportunity to connect and help each other out. This app is set up like a social networking site, primarily for the use of homework help. All you have to do is create an account and choose what courses you are enrolled in. From there you can connect with classmates that share the same courses as you, get help on homework and receive free access to notes and resources. Download: Apple, Android. Crazy Helium Booth It’s finally the weekend and with the help of all these useful apps you’ve successfully made it through your week (yay!) Now it’s time to get some laughs in with Crazy Helium Booth. This is a fun camera app that distorts your face and voice by using several different warping options. You can make videos with your friends and sound like a chipmunk, robot or even a bear. Download: Apple, Android.
