April 27, 2015 Drinks, Drinks Craft Beer of the Week: Escape Route It seems like winter just can’t shake its hold on Michigan. But with help from Escape Route, a Kölsch-style beer by Samuel Adams, your mind will slowly start turning to summer vacation, camping and outdoor concerts. Kölsch is typically brewed in Cologne, Germany, and is renowned for a hoppy but sweet taste – and Escape Route is no different. This lightly golden and slightly hazy brew pours with little head and just a touch of sweetness in the first sip. Overall, the beer profile is right and the mouth feel is pleasant, but the drinking experience is not very memorable. Escape Route checks in at five percent alcohol by volume and is a Samuel Adams limited release, so catch it while you can.
