From closet to class, fashion on campus

While many Central Michigan University students wear their favorite sweat pants to class, Sarah King and Krista Testolin show off their personal style walking campus.

While Sarah King occasionally shops at stores in the Mount Pleasant area, she said she prefers to shop at higher quality stores.

“I’m trying to stop buying cheap things, but things with better quality,” said King.

King, a Central Michigan University sophomore and Spanish major from Rockford, Mich., enjoys looking put together everyday and does not dress in typical college campus fashion. King says that her boyfriend teases her about always being dressed up.

“I just don’t like to scrub,” said King.

King is wearing a shirt from Banana Republic. Her jacket is from Macy’s, jeans are Forever 21 brand and her shoes are from T.J.Maxx, a Mount Pleasant favorite.

Krista Testolin enjoys mixing new and vintage pieces. Testolin is an environment policy and natural resource biology junior from Iron, Mich.

“I like lots of really girly things,” Testolin said.  She said her wardrobe consists of a lot of dresses, some of which are adorned with bows. She usually shops at Target in Mount Pleasant and thrift stores.

Testolin is wearing a mustard yellow collared coat from Burlington Coat Factory with a pair of bright-striped mittens. Her purse is from a resale store and her mary jane flats are from Target.
