April 4, 2011 Arts & Entertainment, Featured, Music Local Event: Macpodz Thursday, Stepdad Friday – both at Rubbles Stepdad - Photo by: Ashley Van Loo Two Michigan acts come to Rubble’s Bar in Mount Pleasant this week. Ann Arbor natives, “The Macpodz“, will bring a jazz-fusion/world rock sound to the hometown hangout at 10 p.m., Thursday. Their “Disco Bebop” style has been well received at music festivals such as: Rothbury, Bear Creek, Summer Camp, All Good, Moe.Down and Gathering of the Vibes. Central Michigan University students and alum will make-up the opening act, “Bloomill“. Friday will welcome the arrival of the Grand Rapids synth-pop group, “Stepdad“. This is the band’s second visit to Rubble’s Bar, the first being in October. Having finished at SXSW, the internet sensation has announced a debut LP with Chris Zane, known mostly for his work with Passion Pit, The Walkmen, Tokyo Police Club and many more. Stepdad gained serious attention online with their music video “My Leather, My Fur, My Nails“, which gained almost 90,000 views in only six months. The Ypsilanti group “Nightlife” will be featured – along with local electronic experimental artist Galactic Vacationer, and DJ Coloreater. The show is welcome to anyone 18 and older. (Rubble’s will only allow a limited number of people under 21, so buying tickets in advance is recommended for minors.) The Macpodz show is $5, and the Stepdad show is $3. This is a fantastic price for two bands gaining great reputations in Michigan. These artists are fresh, fun, and best of all – local. Purchase Tickets
