March 15, 2018 Student Lifestyle, Students No Breaks on Spring Break for Students On Mission Trips Story and photos by Bianca Jenkins While everyone packed up and left Mount Pleasant for their own warm and sunny vacations, two Central Michigan University freshmen took on a new kind of spring break. Draylon Young and Myles Baker spent their spring break down south giving back to the community. Young, a Lansing freshman, spent his week in Panama City Beach, FL. He said while down there, he and other members of His House Church spread the word of God. Young said he picked the trip so he would be able to help others, create new relationships and have life-changing experiences. Young had a message for others who plan to do mission work: go into it with an open mind, and if the opportunity comes always take it. He said it will be life-changing. Baker, also a Lansing freshman, spent his week in New Orleans, Louisiana to work with a local homeless shelter. Baker said he was excited about his location because he felt that New Orleans is a cool city mixed with a lot of different cultures. Baker went with 11 others from His House Church. He said his hope from his trip was to gain a life-changing experience and to get a sense of how other people in the world are living. Baker said he wants to tell others who plan to do mission work to be open to trying new things and be willing to take the opportunities that you are given.
