February 25, 2013 Campus Fashion, Student Styles, Style, Trend and Beauty Work out in style before Spring Break arrives We’ve all been there. That moment when, as you’re stuffing your face with whatever type of food within arm’s reach, it hits you. This foreign idea that maybe you should get off the couch and try working out. You’ve heard that it’s pretty popular these days, what can it hurt? You throw on a shirt that could substitute as a dress, those shorts that you wear to bed every night, you’re over-used and wornout tennis shoes and head out to the gym. Despite being sweaty and disgusting, you’re probably also underdressed. Underdressed? At the gym? It happens, I swear. Although the gym is one of the few places where it’s acceptable to dress in sweats, you’ll not only look better but also have more confidence in yourself if you invest in some new, more fashionable workout attire. Believe it or not, yoga pants do have a purpose beyond everyday wear. They come in handy at the gym, too. They cover you and move with you. They also cling to your body so you don’t have to worry about them traveling in less-than-pleasant directions while you’re getting your sweat on. Victoria’s Secret, Kohl’s and other sporting stores such as Sports Authority, are good places to pick up a few good pairs of yoga pants. In addition to yoga pants, a good pair of running shoes is essential. Investing in comfortable and supportive shoes will help you stick with your workout plan. There are so many different types and brands of workout shoes for both men and women. It’s just a matter of trying them on and finding a pair that works for your body. One unique type of running shoe, produced by Vibram, is the five fingers shoe. This type of shoe is useful for running as well as other outdoor activities. Ludington freshman Cody Shaffer said he loves his Vibram shoes. As an avid runner, he said this type of shoe is comfortable and durable. “I like that they make your feet relatively weightless,” he said. “They are an all-purpose shoe.” Shaffer works out everyday and runs about twice per week. With his five finger shoes, he said, “it’s just like running barefoot.” With spring break coming up in the next week and summer right around the corner, now is the perfect time to pick up some new workout attire and get yourself healthy and in shape.
