March 21, 2017 Drinks, Drinks, Food, Food & Beverage, Recipes, Restaurants Stir: Craft Cocktails and Modern Kitchen in Mount Pleasant Story by Camille Wachholz Feature Photo Courtesy of Stir Facebook page Most Central Michigan University students are familiar with O’Kelly’s Sports Bar and Grille, Wayside Central, Hunter’s Ale House and The Cabin, and the Hunter family founded all of these establishments. Soon, they will be opening a new cocktail bar and restaurant, Stir. Stir is located directly next door to Hunter’s Ale House and will feature a large selection of craft cocktails unlike the drinks served at any of their other bars. The ingredients featured are premium: orange and lemon zest, bitters, wood-smoked flavors, special herbs and many more. Classic cocktails like a Moscow mule can be made to order, but the featured menu has been handcrafted by the owners. Craft beers from Hunter’s will also be available, as well as elegant wines. Not 21? There is also a modern food menu, subject to change every week. Cheryl Hunter, the owner and brains behind Stir, plans to work with local chefs and purchase local ingredients to provide the best possible food experience. The idea is that food served will be unique to what Mount Pleasant offers – gourmet seafood dishes, noodle bowls and creative share plates. As things get rolling, the menu will adapt accordingly. The restaurant and bar had two “soft openings” last week, one private party and one Chamber of Commerce business event. This classy establishment will be open to the public in early April.
